Seedling Growers Association of South Africa (SGASA) is an active organization that represents commercial seedling growers and their interests in South Africa.
The Seedling Growers Association of South Africa was started in 1982 to enable the growers and members to research applicable topics and solve common problems. Seedling Growers Association of South Africa (SGASA) is an active organization that represents commercial seedling growers and their interests in South Africa. SGASA is a non-profit organization. The Seedling Growers Association of South Africa was first constituted in 1981, two years after Roode Lyon first introduced seedling trays to South Africa. It was soon realized that the system had tremendous advantages over seedbed production of seedlings and was adopted by innovative growers. The seedling industry grew from then to dominate all timber, vegetable and Macadamia seedling production within 10 years.
- To serve as an instrument of negotiation in the best interests of the seedling industry and to liaise between the various groups within the industry.
- To promote the common interests of members and the industry in general.
- To promote co‑operation amongst members.
- To provide a rigorous and comprehensive certification scheme for members.
- To conduct Research on pertinent topics as and when the need arises.
